Annual Visit to Northport VA Nursing Home
Dear Post and Auxiliary members, the post will be visiting our disabled comrades at the Northport Veterans Administration nursing home on Saturday, December 8, 2018, at 1:30 p.m. Post and Auxiliary members will meet at the Merrick's Veteran Memorial Park at 12 noon to carpool to the Northport facility.

John Tonn was a good man! He loved to play cards at poker and he would make you laugh. I remember on Memorial Day, when when the Post had its Merrick Post No. 1282, American Legion parade and ceremony, he would be able to fit into his uniform that he wore when he was in service. John helped the Post in many of its projects. He will be missed.

Then consider what Specialist 4 Tom Garvey went through every day during his tour in Vietnam from 1967-1968—fire missions with high explosives, incoming mortar fire, rocket and artillery attacks, and the constant possibility of his unit being overrun. Listening to Tom’s story helped me view my life’s experiences from a different perspective. I hope his story will have the same effect on you.
