These functions and activities include: The costs associated with American Legion functions: Oratorical, Boys State, Americanism, Law and Order, Veterans Day Ceremony, Post Installation of Officers and Membership Dues collection. Our Post members visitation to our comrade veterans the Stony Brook and Northport Veterans Administration Homes.  Our luncheon for the Stony Brook Veterans Administration Home veterans to our Post.  The Post's Merrick's Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony.  Our Post's ceremony for our Post's members who have passed to Post Everlasting.  Our Post participation with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.  Our Post's participation in Nassau County American Legion functions and activities. The costs involved with the maintenance of the Merrick Post 1282, American Legion, building, the Merrick's Veteran Memorial Park.  The costs involved with helping in the sending and purchasing of care packages to Military Personnel overseas. The costs of maintaining the Merrick Post 1282, American Legion, monthly Newsletter and Website.
