Leonard T. Tucker was born in Brooklyn, New York, after graduating High School at the age of 18; he enlisted in the United States Navy. His love of water drew him to the Navy. He was stationed in Great Lakes, Illinois, for boot camp, and on to the base in Little Creek, Virginia. His rank was Seaman Second Class (Yeoman). He was sent to school to learn typing and other office skills. He really preferred to work on a ship. After working in an office for a while, he was sent to a school to learn how to teach servicemen how to make safe landings. While in the service he had the privilege of playing Baseball and Football on the teams where he was stationed. He was honorably discharged from the in November of 1947.

Lieutenant Commander Sheila Almendras-Flaherty is an Active Duty Navy Nurse posted to United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY. She was born and raised in Queens, NY by immigrant Peruvian parents. She graduated from New York University with her Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing in 2001 and joined the U.S. Navy as a Registered Nurse. She is completing her Master's Degree in Pediatrics at Stony Brook University as an Advance Practice Registered Nurse for her future role as a Clinical Nurse Specialist and Nurse Practitioner. She is married and has four children 8, 11, 19 and 20.

On November 17, 2014, John L. Naddeo passed away and reported to Post Everlasting. John L. Naddeo was a Post Member who had a kind soul, he loved making wine and watching the reruns of Lawrence Welk Show on T.V. On one occasion I asked him what was the best time of his life, he said during the 1930's because people had nothing and they were much more kind to each other. He was a good man and I am glad to have known him. He will be sorely missed. (Support staff member).
JetBlue fly's Vets to Washington D.C. to see war monuments, a few of our Post Members participate this event
On Monday, November 10, 2014, Post members Jim Anatra, Ken Braun, Barbara Byrne, Harry Gribbin were flown to Washington D.C. by JetBlue to see the War Monuments in our Nation's Capital. Post member Mike Elliot works for JetBlue and he coordinated this event for our Post members. Here are some pictures from this event.
